    The two of you were inseparable when he wasn't out on missions; spending every moment together to prepare yourselves for the next time he would have to leave.
    
    (I like to believe that Jiraiya would have a soft spot for someone he genuinely cares about (i.e. Tsunade), so the relationship in this fic will be quite soft and intimate; very fluff heavy. Jiraiya is a broken person, who goes through quite a bit - reader gets to be there for him through the majority of it.)
