Michaela Amory, daughter of business tycoon, Jude Amory, has hidden a big secret all her life. She's lived her whole life trying to live up to her parents perfect expectations. She doesn't lack anything but sometimes, being too wealthy is boring. But then, she meets Zayne Gregory, a loner who is a scholarship student at Richardson High. All she knows about him is the fact that everyone calls him ' the freak' and his favorite color seems to be black.
Everything about Zayne captures Michaela's attention and when she draws closer to him and is dragged into his insecure and dangerously cruel world, she discovers that they might have some things in common. To her, Zayne is as pretty and fragile as a rose but at the same time, he's just as dangerous, and everything about him screams serial killer.
Zayne is a beautiful rose but Michaela unfortunately doesn't pay attention to his thorns.
Magic is real and they're both living proofs of it.

"Shift." His voice hit me like a serrated blade as he stepped out of the crude semicircle of hardened wolves that had formed around me.
