As she's struggling with a drug addiction and a conviction that there's absolutely nothing wrong with her, she gets Bård's attention through her music who would eventually save her life (or not?). 
As the story evolves through drama, humour, romance, music, drugs, hurt and comfort, Mary Laine manages to find her way of life at last, but could it be too late?
