Maven and Macy Andrews have been in the foster care system since they were three along with their brothers, who were taken from them at the start. When the girls were four, they were separated, and they haven't seen each other since.

Maven hasn't had much luck with all her homes. No ones wanted to keep her for very long. She's fourteen now, and on her twelfth home. The Maxwells love her, and they are in the process of adoption, but it's all ruined when Maven's brothers suddenly want her back.

Macy is one of the few who drew a four leaf clover in their first few tries. After she was separated from her twin, she went to live with the Bentleys. The years have gone by, and fourteen year old Macy has a good life. She was adopted, and a new life isn't something she wants. It's something that, no matter how much her siblings want it, they can't do anything about.
