This Journal follows Conner "Rem" Bossert, AKA "The Ripper of Rhodes". Backstory: Conner was born into a mixed-race family, with his father being a white union soldier and his mother being a cuban refugee. His mother was forced into marriage in return for sanctuary from the white man. At the age of 10 he watched as his father marched off to claim the western frontier never to return. As Conner grew, he became adventurous, always seeking new thrills. Eventually he grew tired of his boring simple life and joined the U.S. Military against his mother's wishes. Upon his arrival he was judged for not being like everyone else. The soldiers would beat him and call him names, but it was nothing he hadn't endured before when his father was around. After receiving his training, he was immediately assigned to a regiment in Scarlett Meadows tasked with the apprehension of any remaining natives of Lemoyne. One night when all the soldiers were asleep one of the native scouts snuck in the camp and killed one of the soldiers. They retaliated by raiding their camp the next morning and slaughtering the men, women, and children. This would go on to be known as "The Battle of Scarlett Meadows". Horrified by the atrocities that his men were capable of, he fled. On the run and labeled a deserter, he decided to return home to his mother, but learned that she had passed due to cholera. With nowhere to go and no one left, he crossed the border into Mexico where an old man took him in. The old man was a notorious gunslinger who's days were numbered on account of his health. He taught Rem everything he knew until his time finally came and he died. Rem would go on to make his living robbing stage coaches and trains, stealing from the wealthy and giving back to the poor. Eventually he decided to return to the states seeking redemption for his part in the battle, but all he found was more bloodshed. This is his story...

A down to earth cowboy with a past is thrown into the supernatural world, when he falls for a vampire who has demons of his own. Daryl's a bullfighter on the national circuit, stretching his pay check as far as it will go between himself and his brother's farm back in Texas. He also has the misfortune of being incredibly unlucky in love and stumbles into the wrong bar trying to forget a night he can only half remember. The bartender tells him to not go looking for trouble, but amongst the dark shadows and beautiful faces, it finds him in the form of Ryker. Ryker isn't known for being a nice guy. He's got a line that most people would believe is too malleable, but he is one of the good guys. Always shooting off his mouth at the wrong time or getting himself into fights he should avoid (but can handle) he sees the cowboy and goes in search of a fight. But neither man is prepared for the battle of wills and emotions that ensue from their broken attempts at understanding whatever it is that draws them together time and again. The more Daryl is drawn into Ryker's dark world, the more obvious it is that the Cowboy's half forgotten past may be more related to the shadow games and machinations of the very agency that has been trying to kill Ryker and the rest of the supernatural world for decades now. Mature themes. Violence, Swears. (Based in the universe of @Whiskeyjanedoe 's Breaking series. This is a little more than a love story) cover by @whiskeyjanedoe
