Pin was aware of what she was diagnosed with. She understood what was happening to her, she just didn't want to admit it.
She didn't want to admit it at all, from going in and out of the hospital, her parents had enough and forced her to stop attending school, missing out on hangouts that she would have with her friends, and even parties she's invited to.

This is really hard on her, and Coiny didn't appear to be taking it well. Of course, from his 'partner in crime' and nonetheless, his best friend. He's super protective of her. He'd rather die than let anything awful happen to her, that's how strong their bond was.
