Soulmate AU explanation: after you die if you don't fall in love with the correct person, you appear in your SM's house as a ghost and you have to get them to like you back. once they actually are in love with you, you get a second chance at life (even if they died old like 75, you can still come back to life to be cute and stuff with you SM).
