Maxine remembers receiving the letter. She remembers staring at the office building and feeling a pit in her stomach. she remembers that the first time the odd man spoke an how the hairs on the back of her neck stood up. She remembered the other " competitors "in his twisted game, she remembered the places she traveled, the friends she made, and what they all had to do to survive. However the thing she remembers best is how they beat the game.
