In a world where the supernatural exist in heavy numbers, Kyra Harris is a devoted private investigator. She is torn between the familiar setting of her house in a suburb in Chicago, Illinois; and her need for excitement and adventure. While out shopping in a divey neighborhood, she is attacked by a vampire in broad daylight, which is uncharacteristic for them. A beautiful stranger helps fend off the vampire and sends her on a trail of clues to solve a 30-year-old cold case that involves the murder of a 25-year-old girl. Kyra hits a dead end when the coroner tells her that there was hair on the body that does not match any living beings. She feels that something is off about the case, which is then ratified when the coroner is murdered before he can do further testing. Important people are dying simply for being involved in the case. Kyra knows in her soul that it is her fault. When she runs out of options, she investigates the local rumor going around: vampires being holed up in Russia with their leader. She travels to the town of the fabled "Dracula's Mansion", which was believed to be the first place where vampires lived and hunted. Kyra knows that they won't accept her, but much to her dismay, they do. Why? Little does she know, she is a descendant of a hybrid vampire. As far as she knew, her parents were human. She had constantly asked them in the hopes that she could be something other than an ordinary human. Were her parents lying to her? If so, why? She doesn't care anymore. She just wants justice for the victims of the old and new murders committed by and unknown species.
