In the year 1899, two years after the death of parents, Miss Alice VanDusen lives in one of the biggest industrial city's of southern Louisiana as a newer member of the Watsonside high society. Then there's also the fact that her best friend is a poor black boy from the city slumps who happens to be a target of an uprising KKK out in the nearby swamps. Alice has always been one for adventure, but lately, she's been finding herself in more trouble than usual, and there's one person who constantly finds himself rescuing this damsel in distress at every stake.
Mr. Sidney Coover is a bounty hunter from northern Louisiana. He and his men were called to the city of Watsonside to take down this suppose Klan, and only that is what he intended to do. What Sidney wasn't expecting was to come across and fall for an erratic woman from the city's richest household. Not only that, but Alice VanDusen has a way of making men fall at her feet without intention, which means bad business for Mr. Coover. Just when Sidney thought he had enough on his plate, Miss VanDusen has to go adding more to the dish.
