Avanna, a young and motherly Cocker Spaniel dog, is left alone in the Sierra Nevada mountain range after one of her owners abandons her. Over the course of the next couple months, she adapts to surviving on her own.

However, when she runs into three pets who are on a journey back to their home, she tags along as she misses the contact she used to have with other animals.
