Cassidy Lee- AKA Cassie and the Shelby family call her Cassidy Shelby. Cassidy met Ada Shelby when she was only three and they were instantly the best of friends and Cassie soon became friends with the rest of the Shelby clan. She became close with one Shelby in particular; John Michael Shelby. You never saw one without the other. Cassidy's mom had a habit of stepping out on her father throughout their marriage but who wouldn't? Her father was a mean drunk. He hit Cassie and her mother every day. When Cassie was five her mother became very ill and died which only made the abuse from her father worse until he drank himself to death when she was seven. Mrs. Shelby immediately took her in and Tommy and Arthur kicked into their big brother roles and made everyone call her a Shelby. As they grew up John and Cassidy became even more inseparable and soon love blossomed between the pair when Cassidy was fifteen and he was seventeen. Cassidy found out she was pregnant with John's baby shortly after John left for the war in 1914. Despite not receiving any letters from John or the other Shelby brothers that had left for the war she had his baby and it was a beautiful baby boy. She named him Henry James Shelby and she loved him with every ounce of her being. She had yet to receive any letters from John or the other Shelby boys over the course of nearly two years. She lived with Polly, Ada, and Finn until Henry was nearly three he spiked a high fever and he was sick for days until Cassidy made the decision to take him to London to see the best doctors. He was officially diagnosed with Scarlet fever on the day of his third birthday and he died a day later. Grieving from the loss of her son, Cassidy stayed in London unable to go home and face her family let alone the father of her child when he came home from the war. Now three years later, a year after the war has ended she has decided to return home to Small Heath, Birmingham.
