Time is frail yet the most destructive force known to man.

July Romano saw time for the merciless being it is; experienced it for the unshifting power it was. She saw the countdown, an expiration date, to a person's death above their head. The days always went down, it was a hopeless effort to defy fate, she was aware.

Her first year in university had started, a petite girl lingered in the hallway. There wasn't anything that stood out about the girl, bags under her eyes were dark and her smile seemed just as much lacklustre in light. Ginger hair tied up to rest on her tense shoulder, freckles that danced in the sun beams. It was just another student.

A student with only 18 days left to live.

It wasn't July's business. It shouldn't have been.
