Poetry inspired by a study of the 1900 hurricane in Galveston , Texas. It is the worst natural disaster in US history. wiping out the island as a commercial capital, sailing port and railroad hub. It was an unnamed storm, having struck before the naming tradition began. Once renown as the Newport of the West, the island was devastated by a tidal surge and hurricane that cost the lives of 12,000 people. Survivors lifted the remaining city structures and poured sand beneath them to raise them 15 feet. The new seawall was 15 feet as well and built by General Roberts, of Roberts's Rules of Order.

In 2027, everything changes when a strange comet lights up the night sky. At first, people are just spooked, but when it crashes, the real nightmare kicks in-an alien virus starts spreading, pushing evolution into overdrive. The world goes wild as nature mutates beyond recognition, and it's revealed that this is no random disaster. It's part of a massive experiment by an alien race called the Korathians, who've been running this test for millennia, just to see how far life can evolve. And now, Earth is their latest lab. As the virus transforms creatures into monsters, humanity struggles to survive. People aren't just battling these new beasts-they're also fighting to keep hold of what makes them human. The lines between who's human and who's not blur, and everyone is caught in a game they never asked to play.
