Ricky Bowen, Nini Salazar-Roberts, E.J. Caswell, and Gina Porter are a group of friends that are part of a bigger group of friends. Nini has it well living with her two moms and grandmother, she's trying to pursue her love for singing, but her insecurity keeps getting in the way, no matter how hard she tries. After losing his parents in a bombing, EJ went to live with his aunt, uncle, and cousins, but he feels like he stands out of the crowd and isn't right or normal, for more than one reason. Because of his parents constantly arguing, his abusive mother, and her toxic boyfriend, Ricky is a troubled kid, always getting into fights, stirring up trouble, and never talking to anyone about his problems. When they get caught in an explosion and a freak accident at a science lab during a field trip, they all gain unique and special abilities and are introduced to a whole new world, a world of superheroes. With the help of a few new friends and family, they are able to gain control of their new powers. What happens when a new upcoming villain threatens their city and these four are forced to put their powers to the test?
