Alastor is an alpha of a very feared and known pack, the "Crimson Fang" pack, who is formed by five other werewolves: Husk, Anthony (or Angel Dust), Niffty, Cherri Bomb and Pentious. Almost all of them have mates. Husk's mate is Anthony, Pentious's mate is Cherri and Niffty would probably have one soon too. Only their alpha doesn't have this luck, it is very important for the pack that he would find his mate, that didn't happen yet. He tried once with Vincent (or Vox), Alastor throught he was really the chosen one, but Vincent did not have the mark. An alpha's mate has to have the mark. A crescent moon inked on their skin like a tattoo. The relationship with Vincent ended on bad terms and now they're very much enemies, but Alastor doesn't mind that much, it's not so bad. But he still has to find his mate.
Lucifer Morningstar comes from a very wealthy family, has his own mansion somewhere in the center of the city, lives with his six years old daughter, Charlie Morningstar. He had her when he was eighteen with his first girlfriend. Lilith left when Charlie was two and since then Lucifer didn't find anybody else, but he didn't even need a relationship, he could do this alone too. And here's the thing, he's a human, and he has no idea he's gonna be the mate an alpha would need. It's rarely that an alpha's mate to be a human, but not impossible.
At first, Alastor would totally deny this option, there's no way his mate is a human, humans are too fragile and sensitive, Alastor would break him, but after the moonlight hits Lucifer and his mark appears, their bond would be strong, their tug toward each other even stronger and somewhat they'll still end up together. This is what fate it is about, whatever they will like it or not.
