Spawned from a lab experiment, teenage terrapins Leonardo, Raphael, Donatello, and Michelangelo live in the sewers beneath New York.
On the side, mysterious kidnappings occur in the big city, putting all on alert, including a young reporter, April O'Neil. Once her roommate vanishes, she sets out to find answers to her friend's disappearance.
In the process, the justice-loving, pizza-eating brothers can't stand idly by while evil Shredder and his minions terrorize the city. With help from April O'Neil, and her cameraman Vern, the Turtles and a lost teenager set out to save New York together.
