The supernatural is slowly dying, banned and punished by law. Ulrich Adler is a mild-hearted arbiter, one of those who are trained to bring out that prohibition. Yet, he is tricked into a pact with the Devil. To prove his good, he must resort to nefarious ways - and gather a wicked motivation to keep him alive and somehow happy. No training could've possibly prepared him for the inhuman adventure that awaits, orchestrated by none other than the Devil himself. Therein Ulrich discovers a terrifying life of his own.
Right on his tail is Zachariah Vero, a hollow author desperate to save his friends by sacrificing the world. Doing so means overcoming the worst bits of his past, and in spite of all his demons, succeed in capturing the Devil. In the meantime, inspiration strikes, and Zachariah learns - to his horror - that breathing lives into paper is less thrilling than ripping them apart. And that, perhaps, he'd never had a life of his own.
Their clash is inevitable, both of subjective justice. The only sort that can exist. Makes for a Faust-inspired, Dostoyevsky-dipped, Nietzsche-sprinkled mess with a whole lot of blood and jokes.

They call them enforcers-They are the ones that come in and clean up when laws have been broken. They are the most feared and strongest of us. They were the ones who couldn't live peacefully in the packs so they decided to make use of them. Soliditary wolves with alpha personalities. I am not like them. I'm worse. I'm a considered a rogue. I was so mad that I wanted to show him how wrong he was. Soon, he would be sorry, he would kneel and beg for my forgiveness. The mental image of him on his knees made my lips twitch with amusement. I started phasing out to my wolf form, and when I stood in all my glory, I prowled and preened to show off my beautiful fur. He laughed even harder. I simply wanted to kill him. Yes, my wolf was small, but it existed. Why the hell wasn't he on his knees then? "As I said, you're not a werewolf," he repeated. Huh, what did he mean by that?Complete

Hell is empty and all the devils are here Earth has been invaded by the demonic and humankind has been brought to its knees. It was beaten into me that tough times create strong men, and I guess I'm one of them, whether I like it or not. They call me the Nemesis and label me as the Vanquisher of Evil. I do not need or seek fancy titles, however, as long as I can do what has to be done. My steel heart doesn't delude itself into thinking I don't purport some manner of evil, but these desperate times call for drastic measures. Love can't save us from a horde of mindless beasts. I look to him and then back to Victor who is clearly doing everything he can to contain his anger at the moment. I clench my teeth together and I do the dumbest thing I probably should have in that moment, "You can all go to hell." I say through gritted teeth. I have a problem with anger okay? It couldn't just back down to these he-man wannabe's after all the BS that they had put me through. My eyes widened as Victor let out a fierce roar and then before my eyes he went from man to beast. It happened so quickly that no one even had a moment to respond to it. He was charging at me from across the room and I was standing frozen with wide eyes as he came at me. The wolf collided with me full force and my body slammed into the ground with a sickeningly loud crack. I felt all my bones snapping and rattling together as I hit the ground. The wolf caged me underneath himself his big sharp teeth snarling inches from my face. I blinked a couple time as I stared into those glowing blue eyes and I felt my heart beating in ears. This was it, I was going to be killed because I couldn't keep my stupid mouth shut and just do what I had been told.Complete
