A collection of short stories all pertaining to the Shroud and constructing the world around it.
This is an fictional thing that I thought up on a whim. The following is a short story that starts with a collection of emails sent to Cedric Collier, a world famous biologist, from Everett Park, a friend and former colleague of his.
This is the story that binds every story I have made and will make together, essentially. You'll see what I mean.
Following the 2035 event known as the Cataclysm, a bizarre super-structure manifests within the Southern Pacific, in an area largely devoid of any permanent sea life. Suspicious of the super-structure's nature and appearance immediately following the Cataclysm, the World's Superpowers immediately assembled a team of the brightest and most renowned scientists in the world to inspect and identify the "Pacific Anomaly".

It took me 7 months, but we're finally here. This has been inspired by my friends and I playing Among Us 600 years into the future, a company by the name of Innersloth have been promoted after an attack on Area 51 revealed that the government had abducted a child in Alaska. As 8 years progress, 11 different individuals uncover that Innersloth isn't as great as the media potrays them to be. Disclaimer: Every origin story told has had key ideas from the player. I didn't make the concept, I just did the writing. Over the past few months you guys have been great to me and this is my present to you. Some stories are also longer than each other but that's because the players just had more ideas to work with, so don't feel offended if your story isn't as long as others because I've put an equal amount of effort into each one. Because it isn't in chronological order, Time does jump around but in the end they all lead to the year 2820. The New World. As its name implies, a land filled with the Unknown. To some, a treasure trove of discovery and riches, to others, the thrill of adventure and the chance of glory, but to all, a mystery filled with endless possibilities. 40 years ago, The Hunters Guild formed a group of the elite in order to investigate this uncharted paradise. That was the birth of The Research Commission. After a perilous journey through the sea, the First Fleet of the Commission crashed on the new world. Unable to move their destroyed vessel, the First Fleet decided to make the crashing site where their new base will be, and after years of adapting and building, they created Astera. 30 years ago, the Second Fleet departed, consisting mostly of Engineers and technicians, whose mighty hammers and incandescent forges created tools and weapons that were sorely needed. 20 years ago, a group of researchers, the Third Fleet, arrived in the New World. However, they stayed in their own base, floating in the air. Whether it was scientific curiosity or the call of something from the beyond, "The Thirds" decided to research the Valley of death. 10 years ago, the resourceful and organized Fourth Fleet arrived, creating systems and stability making sure everything ran as precisely as it should. Lastly, stepping on the trails of the Scorching Mountain Dragon, the largest fleet set sail towards The New World. Filled with the best hunters the guild could find, and thanks to the solid base built-in Astera over years of hardships, will The Fifth Fleet become the final key to unlock the mysteries of the new world? In their first life (the original timeline), Hu Chen Mu eventually returned to the family after learning the truth. However, filled with bitterness and jealousy, he launched a ruthless campaign against Hu Mengyu, destroying him both personally and professionally. In the second lifetime the transmigrator in this story, Yan JingJi, Hu Mengyu's childhood friend, became Hu Chen Mu's greatest enemy. Although Yan JingJi couldn't kill Hu Chen Mu due to his "protagonist halo" (the plot armor protecting the protagonist), he made sure that Hu Chen Mu's life ended miserably, sending him to prison where he would live in misery until old age, thus turning Hu Chen Mu our villain. Our Host here is to have a perfect love for lifetime, while turning around all the plots and twist to make the "Happy Ending for the Villain." Teaming Up with System 225
Updated Summary: With the creation of different dimensions and universes, came forth intelligent beings. To regulate these dimensions and universes, higher beings took control of containers called UniOrbs. These containers not only regulated the Gods and the souls of those worlds but also dictated the processes of reincarnation. The UniOrb could not do this on their own, so they contracted souls to become "Systems" that made sure souls were able to reincarnate, but not all souls were fortunate enough to do so. "Systems" then teamed up with souls called "Hosts" to make sure unfortunate souls got their wishes fulfilled, their souls healed properly, and ready for reincarnation. To make sure the Systems and Hosts had a proper base of operations, the UniOrb created a separate space called the Command Center. This Command Center was at the entrance of the reincarnation sea, where souls would go to their next destination. The person in charge was called, "God System." One System was not satisfied with their status quo. They created something known as the "Villain System." This Villain System was designed to suck the life and energy from different worlds, using it to spread a virus that would slowly take over the UniOrb. Their goal: Take over the UniOrb to become the new higher being that controlled it. When all hope seemed to be lost for those in the UniOrb and its Command Center, one System, System 225, gained control from the Villain System, rescued his "Host," and together go from world to world, gaining enough energy to combat the System that created the Villain System. A 2019 Wattys entry deeply into climate change, global warming, and environmental destruction, especially the nuclear kind! A lot of true facts are embedded in this story which has both true and fictional characters. Who is to be believed is for you to decide. The chapters are many but many are short. Still, it is a full-sized novel with promise for future adventures. Plot: An international crew of scientists board a large state-of -the art oceanographic vessel privately funded by an anonymous source. The itinerary is to travel down the west coast of the Americas and travel the South Pacific to Antarctica. The team plans to visit many known sites of hydrothermal vents using a device called the MAPR, searching vents for a bacterium that seems promising in use as a way to fight carbon dioxide emissions. But one of the two junior scientists on the team soon realizes that secrets are being kept, and makes promises to keep some, while learning that some onboard have entirely different agendas. To complicate matters, this junior scientist's desire for a special friendship grows in intensity, just as mysterious murmurings and strange sightings intensify.
