Lyra Black was born years after the final battle with the dark wizard, lord Voldemort. While her family are purebloods who distanced themselves from her extended family the name was cursed. She is the granddaughter of Alphard Black, her mother being his only child. Even after being burned from the Black tapestry her family could not rid themselves of the cursed name. Lyra knew the history and the people behind the fear but even her absolute separation and innocents from the family wouldn't change the bias the Wizarding World had towards the name.
