1464, the War of the Roses has been raging for nine long years. Two royal houses, Lancaster and York, fight for the throne of England. The young Edward IV has deposed his cousin Henry VI and taken the throne by force. Henry is still at large as is his hated Queen, Margaret of Anjou. I just lost my father almost 4 years ago during the Saint Albans' fight when I was only 10 years old. I used to live a good and modest life with my mother, my grandparents and my two little brothers but everything changed when Mother met the King. They got secretly married and he soon announced the news. Mother told me that the news was not well taken by everybody and that we should be careful now that we were at Court. The King asked my mother's hand driven by love while he was promised to another Lady, the Bonne de Savoie. My brothers and I needed protection, especially because we were not from a union with the King, so therefore, we were not royal. We actually all needed protection because my mother was pregnant with, we all hoped for, a baby boy. I knew she wanted to give Edward an heir as soon as possible.

Before the time of King Henry 8th and Queen Elizabeth 1st, times were much simpler back then. In the year of 1455, the biggest war in history raged through England and would be known as the War of the Roses. This was also a strained period of one particular young girl's life, which would change her world as she knew it. Her name was Lady Rosalie Catherine Howard, the daughter of Thomas Howard, the Duke of Norfolk. During the war, Thomas had sided with the Yorks and helped their side win the throne of England. As a result, he promised his only daughter's hand in marriage to the eldest York brother, who would now be King of England, Edward IV. For you, I'd even try to turn the tide
Instead of a summary, I'll tell you a couple of things about this story. This is an alternate Harry Potter universe. A lot of things are different in this story. First of all, this story takes place after the final battle with Voldemort. Our main characters are staying in Hogwarts in separate rooms. They can still go to their common rooms though. (That's sth completely different). Since our characters (the majority at least) don't sleep in the common rooms, that means that boys/girls can sleep together. Last but not least, there is a MAJOR difference between the books/movies. In my universe, some things CAN happen. Something impossible otherwise. But I need it for my story, it's important. Do not come at me people. I told you, this is an alternate universe!! Also, the chapters may be small at some points. I have already written some chapters and I may connect them if I feel like it. But some, yes, they'll be small. The title is inspired by Halsey's version of the song "I Walk The Line". For some reason, I thought this is a perfect resemblance. The song is dark and full of love and the sense that you are losing/going to lose the one you love. Plus, that lyric seems so appropriate for my story.Complete
