"I... I... I am sorry."
 A tear slipped from her eye. Her voice trembled with remorse as she stood before him, her heart heavy with regret. The room echoed with an eerie silence, broken only by his bitter chuckle that reverberated through the empty space. It was a laugh devoid of humor, filled instead with a great deal of anguish.

"All this time I was sharing these things with you. You were making fun of me, weren't you?" His voice was laced with a mixture of anger and sadness, his eyes piercing into her soul. He took her forearms in his hands, his grip firm but gentle, and looked into her eyes, searching for answers.
She could feel the weight of his accusation pressing against her chest, suffocating her. Her hands trembled as he took her forearms in his hands and looked into her eyes. The anger flickered in his gaze, but it was overshadowed by the sorrow that seemed to consume him.

"While I was busy falling in love with you," he continued, his voice strained, "you were busy playing games along with your family. Weren't you?"
