The silence was too loud in the basket ball court and Raven shuddered as the wind caressed her shoulders. She glanced back at Blair who was not to far behind. The tension and the angst was evident and could have been cut with a knife. The part music could be heard from where they were standing and was the only thing disrupting the silence. They were nineteen and in college but had managed to get themselves into a huge mess. Blair had met Aiden at the bar. He was an FBI agent and was much older than her and yet she still managed to catch feelings for him. But now, everything had changed, the crime she committed couldn't be kept from him for long. They were running, in a sense. From the anxiety, from themselves and from the haunting secret that was waiting for them when they went home.

My fingers travelled through his hairs as he teased me with his lips playfully. Tracing my collarbone and then making it all the way up to my ears. My fingers wrapped around the back of his neck and I crashed my lips on his, perfectly entwining with the buttery movement. Our lips parted as our tongues met, dancing and twirling as if discovering each inch. The continuation of his nibbling at my lower lip dragged it much deeper into more velvety chemistry and more passionately electrifying. When our lips parted, we were utterly breathless. I just lost myself, sitting on his lap and staring into his eyes. "Shall we have breakfast?" I whispered. "I'm having mine right now," he whispered as his lips brushed against my ear and he gently bit my earlobe. "Ah!" a silent gasp left my lips automatically and I felt his smirk against my skin. 🥉Black and Gold Flames Awards © SANYUKTA

His breath was warm against my skin, and for a moment, everything else faded, just his presence, his closeness, the tension thick in the air. "Are you always this difficult?" he murmured, his voice low, teasing. I swallowed, my heart pounding. "I'm not difficult," I whispered back, though my voice betrayed me. His gaze softened, his lips almost touching mine. "Then stop pushing me away, Cassie." Before I could think, his lips brushed against mine, and everything shifted. ☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆ In The Art of Being Lost, Cassie, a reclusive girl who hides her tender heart behind solitude, spends her days wandering the quiet aisles of her favorite bookstore. She's long dismissed the idea of connection, until one fateful Wednesday. Aiden, a charming and carefree stranger, collides with her world amidst a cascade of books. Their first encounter is brief, but undeniable sparks fly. As Aiden's humor and optimism chip away at her defenses, Cassie finds herself questioning whether her isolation is a refuge or a prison.
