Suicide and self-harm are often ridiculed in society. The people who commit these acts are often deemed selfish and sometimes even stupid. However what society fails to realize is, we don't cut because we want to die. We cut to survive.

Melanie is 16 and was molested in the 4th grade and as a result suffers from clinical depression. Her parents split when she was a kid, so now she only has her "dad" who's never home. Melanie has only attempted suicide once and runs to her friends Tige and Jessica for comfort. Tige is 17 and lives with his 22 year old douche of a brother who's an alcoholic and makes it a point to beat Tige's ass every night just for the heck of it. Tige's dad left his mom after she started cheating and doing drugs. Suffering from depression like Melanie, Tige also has bipolar disorder. Both Jessica's parent's are extremely religious. They don't approve anything LGBT or anyone for that matter, which isn't good for Jessica because she's bi. Jessica's step father, who's a local preacher, also abused her when she was a child. These three have formed a pact to never commit suicide. No matter how hard life gets, they have to stick it out.

As we all know, we who self harm or have attempted or thought about suicide are NOT insane. We simply struggle to remain sane in such insane situations. But sometimes, when the insane side gets the best of you there is nothing your sane side can say to convince you otherwise. And what do you do when your sane side is having a hard time convincing itself? Find out what Melanie, Tige, and Jessica do in "Insanity vs Sanity."
