Michael spent five years dealing with his disorder: haphephobia. Afraid to be touch. Afraid of stepping out of his home to enjoy a normal life. After moving to a new school, Michael has to challenge himself again from the beginning, but now with help from his new friend Elliot.

After the journey through high school and finally able to adapt to life with his mental health, Michael approaches a new challenge. College, balancing his relationship with his boyfriend, Elliot, and figuring out what he wants in life. Maybe there are things that need letting go of to pursue a better life.

I'm only leaving this book up for nostalgia purposes because I wrote this back in middle school and so many people loved it. Even with this being the case, him and his new family mush together like it was met to be. Nothing major really happened in his life besides that until one day he receives a package from his aunt. A package that changes his perfectly normal life forever. All of the trigger warnings are in bold letters and at the end of the triggering scene there is a bold note letting you know it's over incase you skipped the scene. Octaveus was depressed. He knew it, but no one else did. He hid it, just as he hid his scars. He wasn't human either; he hid that too. He hid almost everything about himself from everyone, in order to minimize the ridicule. His mental state, his thoughts, his scars, even his questionable sexuality. But that only fed into his sadness. Drew was insecure. He didn't like standing up for himself in fear of saying something wrong. He didn't even change in the main locker room for PE, he went in the stalls. He was anxious. He wanted to know what was happening and when so that he can prepare for all possible outcomes of that event. And he was gay; his family knew and supported him, but no one else knew. He was too scared of how they would react to tell them. Jessie knew his brother would be teased. It was really a fact. Humanity wasn't too good at accepting of different beings. No matter how human Octaveus made himself look, he couldn't hide his unnaturally pale skin that no matter how hard he tried would not tan or his yellow cat eyes. He just had to try to fit in, same as the rest of their family. Seth was the school bad boy, and secret werewolf. His hobbies included pushing around the Freshman, flirting relentlessly with any and every attractive popular girl in sight, and trying not to think about Octaveus. He didn't want other people to find out about his thoughts on the emo new kid. So, naturally, he made Octaveus's school day a living hell.
