Mr. Breyton's been hiding something, perhaps more than a few things. His young companion isn't the only one left in the dark. For thousands of years, she has controlled the waves for as long as she remembers. One night she comes across a ship where she falls in love with the captain. ➖After her mother's death, seventeen year old Karis tries to drown herself and is mysteriously saved by a boy who assumed she was unconscious. But some things he says don't add up, and he realizes the consequences of his actions, since saving drowning humans is against the law. So he gives her two choices: Never speak a word of what happened and go back to whatever life she despised so much, Or Come with him to an underwater city she never thought existed. After choosing the latter in a risky gamble, both her and the boy might be in for more than they bargained for when they discover the city is under attack. Will they be able to save it and the people in it in time, or will following the boy be a big mistake? Breaking through the surface, she gasped anxiously for oxygen, while the invading shouts of the English men bombarded the air with the atmosphere of sheer panic. Paralyzing fear gripped her entire being as she looked up, the salt water trailing down her face from her wet hair. One by one, before her very eyes, each man still swimming within the beating waves was mercilessly yanked down into the depths, followed by a splash and glimmer of that same silvery tail whipping back and forth viciously within the churning waters, sending up foamy sprays of water and spurts of pirate blood in it's wake.
