{inspired by the writing of Scott Westerfeld in his Leviathan series} Deryn Sharp and the Former Prince Aleksander of Hohenberg have set off to London, in order to join the secretive service of Dr. Nora Barlow. And as the war rages on between the Clankers and Darwinists, we come to see just how involved our hero and heroine, were involved in the secret side of the victories the allied powers achieved. This is an epilogue of lengthy proportions, as we see the lives of Alek and Deryn as they grow together in the shadows of one of the most significant wars of the century.

However, her latest foray into the Barrens leads to an incredible discovery: someone with the potential to create a feralism cure. But it takes time and risk to create a cure, without promise of a payout. To Nia, some fates are worse than death, and the only absolute is the oblivion of feralism awaiting her.
