If a citizen broke a few minor laws, they would go for Rebirth, where they are born with the same personality and mind, just different looks. If a citizen goes to jail for more than 15 years, the scientists would stimulate Ell, the equivalent to Hell.
Lorian Hurando, director of the Afterlife Project, knows things about the system that few people know about. But when a letter arrives in the ocean of death threats one day that tells him to 'retire' or he will be in grave danger, he took the chance and retired. The letter is one in a series of letters that is all from a mysterious sender initialed H in cursive. When the final letter tells him to shut down the Afterlife, he must decide between right and wrong. But first he must know which is which.
Heather Dia is the daughter of a store manager.
