"Delhi Riots Untold Story-2020" is a book co-authored by three women - Monika Arora, Sonali Chitalkar and Prerna Malhotra; all achievers in their own right. It is not about them, but what they saw on the ground in North-East Delhi, where riots had erupted in early months of 2020.

Usually, riots have an element of "suddenness". But often, we find out later that 'suddenness' was a facade. Somebody somewhere is always behind it; often, with vested interested.
However, the riots that occurred in North-East Delhi were continuation of a particular kind of thought process, where it appeared that disrupting normal, commercial, societal and cultural activities of a peacefully developing nation was a target.
And when these women - a Supreme Court lawyer and two teachers in Delhi University - went on the ground, the layers of a 'created disturbance' by vested interests began making themselves visible.
We cannot lose the sight of the circumstances in which the book is now being brought out by Garuda Prakashan. It was to be brought out by Bloomsbury India, having passed through all checks and scrutiny. But, at the last moment, the book was de-platformed, allegedly under pressure from some people with a certain ideology. This was a clear attack on 'freedom of speech and expression', besides being wrong on contractual norms.
