Evangeline Baros is only sixteen years old and she has survived summers spent in the psychiatric ward for suicidal attempts. Even though her time there is torture, she would rather be in the familiar white room with a paper-thin bed than suffer that look of disappointment on her mother's face at home. After a final attempt to rid of her life, her mother had given up completely and decided to ship her to a girls' discipline boarding school in the hope that she will "whip into shape" into the daughter her mother yearned for.
It is in this school that Evangeline suffers from further bullying until a strange event occurs and changes her life forever.
