"You don't own me," I roughly pull my hands away from his, "you never have and you never will." The fire in his eyes grows but I hold my ground. "You will be mine Scarlett, whether you like it or not." His deep baritone voice growls out. "Is that a threat?" I ask as the fire in my veins burn. "Not a threat, but a promise." He replies as his finger touches my cheek softly. I push it away and glare at him as he turns and walks away.

Scarlett Aldridge is the last of her kind, or so she thought. She has had a tough go at the game called life and everything seems to be against her. Life deals her another card, a man, the one thing she swore she would never need. Add on the crumbling system of the supernatural world, fairies who don't keep their mouths shut and dangerous terrors that come back from her past. Can she face this alone or will she seek help from the unlikliest of allies and manage to keep what little of her heart is left intact?
