"Between you and me, I specifically requested to be in Mrs. Woods' class," Zac said, slightly louder so Dream could hear him.
"What?! Why would you do that?"
  "To investigate," Zac admitted.
  "Investigate what?"
"It's a horrible thing," Zac said, beginning to speak in a softer voice again. "But I have a hunch that Mrs. Woods..."
  "What?" Dream said.
  "...Is a kidnapper..."
  ---
Fifteen year old Dream Cadison has never lived in one place for long. So, when she moved to Brooklyn, New York with her dad for her sophomore year of high school, there was no reason for her to think things would be any different. But, against her will, she is almost immediately sucked into a complex mystery involving a psychopathic teacher who has committed unspeakable crimes.

Although Dream initially wanted nothing to do with the whole thing, and tried to get through the school year as normally as she could, her participation in the mystery quickly became inevitable as she was thrown into a whirlwind of discovery after discovery, prompting her to join in on the investigation.

A few months and a group of new friends as well as new enemies later, the clock is ticking, and Dream realizes that not everyone is as they seem. Will she be able to find out what is truly going on with Mrs. Woods? And will she be able to stop her teacher from doing more harm before it's too late?

From kidnappings and lawsuits, to injuries and near-death experiences, there is only one thing everyone knows for certain: Dream and her friends will either succeed, or die trying.

"This book is therapy!" - Abbieking86 "I want to shoot my left knee cap," Elliot said. "A natural response. Is it because you favor your right?" Tristan asked. "No, not particularly," she replied. "So the issue is...?" "I found the most amazing writer." "Damn! I hate when that happens," Tristan said. Is it better to write well, or to be well known? Elliot McKenzie is a prolific YA writer. Having published four books by the time she left high school, she is ready to branch out. For her fifth novel, she decided to use dual point of views. Wanting the male point of view to ring true, she needs a co-author. In her search for a co-author, she encounters Beck Daniels, a cocky introvert with the habit of speaking his mind. After their first meeting, Beck is the last person Elliot wants to work with. That is, until she reads his writing. As they begin to write together, Beck challenges Elliot's formulaic and clichéd writing, while Elliot calls out Beck's self-sabotage and procrastination. Mix in a crazy family, her sister's wedding and a publishing deadline; and Elliot might discover she has more of a voice than she thought. "This story!! Seriously, I'm already hooked!
