It's near the end of 8th grade and everyone's drinking in the glorious beginnings of summer and the ending of school, when everything takes a turn for the worst for Lily and her small group of friends.  Irene, the life of the group, is diagnosed with cancer almost out of nowhere, baffling Lily and her friends.  Follow Lily and her friends as they try to figure out how to deal with their friend's circumstance and how to deal with their own raging feelings.
