"You should have told me!" Askari yelled, taking a step closer.
"Why?" M.J. said back, she too, taking a step closer. It was way too close for her liking, but M.J. wouldn't back down.
"You could've gotten yourself killed! Almost did!" Askari ran a frustrated hand through his black, silky hair.
"I can look after myself," M.J. retorted. They were inches apart, their breaths fanning each other's faces.
"I can't loose you!" Askari yelled, "I can't loose you. And I can't protect you when you are protecting everyone else," his voice had dropped, barely above a whisper.
Guilt gnawed at M.J.'s stomach. As she cupped her hand on Askari's cheek.
"You will never lose me."
