Tayla never really had a good outcome with boys-with the little amount of experience that she has-and begins to feel a little lost when it comes to love. In her reflections, she back-draws to her past experiences with boys as she prepares to leave for college, and realizes that in the entirety of her time seeking affection, she had defects of her own. In trying to understand herself she dives into what love really means, and what this day in age brings to young lovers like her just trying to find a genuine connection with a boy. In this new bound journey she encounters guys and friends that boost her existence, whether good or bad, and a new vision of life will emerge from her pacified love life. Here, she will encounter the temptation of caving into the norms or society when it comes to finding a guy, while trying to seek answers of wandering questions about herself as a partner.

A venture that will lead her down a path of self-discovery and unexpected love. *** When eighteen-year-old April Lewis' mom walks around like a zombie, evades all attempts to talk and controls her every move, April decides she's had enough. She leaves home one warm summer evening with nothing but a yellow backpack filled with her coveted dad's letters he's been sending her for the past months, and some bare necessities. She's determined to seek him out and go live with him down on the West Coast, where he has a temporary job. The last thing April expects is almost being hit by a car. The owner of the vehicle? Her classmate, Dave Rivera, a troubled boy whom she almost never talked to before, and who can't be more different than her. After making sure April is just a little banged-up, Dave strikes a deal with her: he'll help her get to the West Coast free of charge, as long as she doesn't report him to the cops. The two embark upon a road trip from NY to LA, navigating through stunning landscapes and meeting a colorful cast of characters. While sharing life stories and exchanging experiences, armed with the wisdom from her Dad's letters, April and Dave discover that they are a lot more alike than they originally thought. "Because you have parents that love you. You have parents that support you and yet you think your life is so bad just because stupid kids pick on you." "I... don't have it easy." I mumbled. "You don't know. You can't even imagine how it is. Being bullied every single day just because you're you. They don't even see me as a person, you know? I'm just it. I'm just a thing. I'm not 'Quince the person'. I'm 'Quince the looser', the venting tool, the dirt beneath your feet." ~~~ Quince has been bullied, fat shamed, and terrorized by the people at her school ever since junior high. It hasn't gotten any better over the past years especially with being in a small town where a majority of the population were "model worthy." She was left out of place, but not for long! When a group of new kids come to town Quince will join their forces and learn the true value of self beauty. Though it will be difficult, Quince is determined to show her town that beauty lies in the core, but what happens when Quince's task becomes something much more bigger then she anticipated? Join Quince and her friends as they uncover the true meaning of loving one's self and the strength of friendship on a life changing adventure in this coming of age novel. ~~~ ☆Please be advised that this book deals with self-harm.
