Book 3.
A short story of Narnia: The Golden Age.
Do read Narnia: The Golden Age books 1 & 2 to understand what is going on.

He took out his spyglass and looked. At first, he thought it was a shark so he kept his eyes on it, but the figure did not move much and wasn't particularly interesting, so he went back to his urgent task. Once he had finished, he searched for the shape again, curious to see if it was still there. He could not spot in in the place from before and so he started looking around. Perhaps it was indeed a shark and it had swum away. He spotted the thing floating close to shore and he looked until the sea spit it out. This peered his interest. Whatever it was, it was too far away for Edmund to make out what it was, so he took out his spyglass once more.

"A piece of driftwood," he thought. "Or maybe a bunch of seaweed. Or driftwood with seaweed,"

And then it moved.

"Oh. Milady Ashton, are you going to the ball for King Peter." The young centaur shyly asked Ashton. Ashton crouched down next to her, meeting her eye level with a friendly smile, "I'm afraid I don't know what you mean, little one." "You know... The ball thing... Mommy told me it was the King's opportunity to woo a lady of Narnia." She explains with her limited vocabulary and a small lisp. "A courting ball?" Ben asks the little one. "That's it!" She exclaims, "Are you going?" "I guess we will see, we haven't been back to the castle since the war," Ashton tells the five-year-old, sugarcoating her response to avoid disappointing the child. "Ohh." She nodded before leaning down to Ash to whisper in her ear, "My father told me stories from the war, of course not the stories with too much fighting, but he mentioned the greatness of the prophesied. You were always my favorite." She giggles. Ash didn't know what to say as the little centaur bounced away. She stood from the party, needing a minute outside. Edmund followed her after her, wanting to help his dear friend with the news. "Ash, I'm sure there's an explanation." "Yes, a simple one Ed. I left. Your brother owes me nothing. It is his choice. If he wants every spoiled, perfect, primitive, self-centered princess within a hundred miles lining up at his feet. That is his choice and does not concern me." Ashton admits, more negatively than she intended. "This is not going to end well." Ben comments, openly. ╣╠ Ashton returns to Cair Paravel and it is clear that in the two years she spent away, much has changed. ╣╠ Multiple POV ╣╠ Story intertwined with the golden ages after The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe by C. S. Lewis. I only own Ashton, Benvolio, and any other characters not in the books or movies. ╣╠

'We fight for the future of Narnia, and for such, the child is pivotal.' There are Prophesies in almost every world. Many are carved into cave walls, many are passed on by wise Elders as entire civilisations hold their breathes and wait hundreds, perhaps thousands of years for something or, more usually, someone. But this particular Narnian Prophecy was sung by the stars and held as whispers in the wind. This Prophecy took but days to begin. The Kings and Queens of Narnia simply couldn't understand why an untrained girl- Lilith, was her name- was sent to them amidst the dawn of battle. Lilith herself knew not what she'd done to deserve being thrown into the eye of a storm. But the Centaurs knew. The Fauns, the Dryads, the Talking Animals- each one of them knew. Lilith did unspeakable things as a guest of Royalty. She won the heart of an imperfect King, said the most unrefined things to incredibly refined people and even attempted murder within the Castle walls. But alas, all are part of a far, far bigger story; The story of 'She'. _-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_ 'Some walkways reminded her of Hogwarts. Some reminded her of Casterly Rock and others of Arthur's Castle in 'Merlin'. But no matter what fictional castle Lilith imagined around her, it was inescapable the fact that this castle, Cair Paravel, was real.' ~~~~~ ❗️NO generative AI was used in the writing of this fic, or any of my other works #1 thelionthewitchandthewardrobe (24/11/22) WilliamMoseley (31/12/20), Narniaau (23/03/21) LucyPevensie (21/01/21) Pevensie (04/03/22) #2 CSLewis (07/02/23) GoldenAge (20/02/21 & 24/01/23) NarniaFanfiction (07/08/22) #3 SkandarKeynes (27/09/21) CairParavel (08/01/22) #7 Narnia (29/03/21) #32 EdmundPevensie (22/10/22) #43 Prophecy (17/12/21) #59 Medieval (07/05/21)

But when the moment came, the chosen one wasn't the heroic boy everyone expected. Instead, Aslan called upon a skinny, pale girl, haunted by a troubled past, to fulfill the ancient prophecy. Now, burdened by a destiny she never asked for, she must confront the darkness within and beyond, as Narnia's fate rests in her uncertain hands.
