Conrad lead us down the hallway and towards a large set of double doors. 


I paused and gnawed on my bottom lip, scratching my elbow to distract myself from all the many reasons why the king asked me to meet him.

"Don't worry Jae, he's probably just going to thank you for all the great work you've done for our nation" Peai squeezed my shoulder in reassurance  and I nodded, and gave her my best smile.

"General" Conrad turned towards me gesturing towards the doors, I nodded and turned to Peai.

"I'll be right here waiting for you." Peai whispered into my ear after giving me a quick hug. 

I sucked in a breathe and nodded for Conrad to open the doors.
