After the defeat of Gaia and misfortune of passing out in front of the whole camp. Nico Di Angelo finds himself confined to the infirmary until Will Solace deems him healed. Nico admits he has a 'bit of a thing' for running away. He's known for pushing inconvenient feelings behind walls and walking away from difficult conversations. When he finds himself too weak to shadow travel, the ghosts of his past start to catch up with him, leaving him with two options. Confront his past and create his future. Or, allow himself to fade into the darkness forever, becoming at best a shadow of himself. Will on the other hand thinks he has himself all figured out. He pushes himself hard healing campers and he practices his guitar, throwing in a little archery when the first two get boring. He can't admit to himself that he's been pushing himself to a breaking point until the boy fading in the back of his infirmary forces him to face his own fatal flaws. As the two boys get to know each other they realize that sometimes even when you think you're opposites (in this case a healer and a boy who's nick name is death boy) you might actually understand more about each other than anyone else ever could. TW: PTSD, swearing, alcohol, addiction Disclaimer: all characters belong to Rick Riordan and the Heroes of Olympus series unless created by me for the purpose of this story Oh also I'm making all the campers a little older than they are when Rick writes them. It just makes it feel more relatable to write more mature characters.
