Maria placed the stack of papers on the table for her parents to see, the words burning themselves into the back of her eyelids. Had she known that she was a witch? Of course not, but she had seen this coming--at least, she had seen the owl coming--and the discovery that she possessed magic did little to surprise her. This Hogwarts...perhaps they could help her understand why she was so peculiar, and perhaps they could help her to control this curse that seemed to burdened her.
