What do you do when the man who raised you turns out to be an abusive predator? All these years you never understood why your mom was crying in the dining room every morning. You never asked why she was wearing long sleeves on a hot day. Or what all that screaming was about that previous night. They won't tell you but you always question it.
You just forgive and forgive and forgive and hope one day he will change and once again be the man he was when you were 9.... But then he comes after you and everything finally clicks into place. There's no reasoning with him and he won't let her go. So what do you do?

There are a lot of things you don't really think about until they happen to you. Take rape, for instance. I always thought, "That won't happen to me. I have a boyfriend. I trust him. I can promise you right now that it saved me. These are the journal entries and selected poems from my first experience of love that left a unpleasant taste in my mouth- quite literally. Worth It
So many time, victims of toxic relationships are made to believe that their pain is the norm in all relationships. So many times it takes years for them to actually realize the truth and another few years to escape that toxic relationship.
