Detective Clementine Betrose lives in a place where breaking the law is the same as buying coffee. Criminal's run her city; Fallcone, from the break of dawn to midnight. Criminals are the ones pulling the puppet strings, from the governor to the law enforcement. Hell, Criminals are the law. Although one organization in particular really takes the crown for corruption; Paranon.
A vile, evil spirited gang of delinquents who've flew through the social ranks with their crazy unexplainable stunts. Things like blowing up a building, with no trace of explosives. Or kidnapping a politician or public figure, without ever stepping foot in the building. Even killing an entire group or men, then wiping any trace of the group's existence off the face of the earth. And the worst part? Paranon always stays anonymous.
Clem will do anything to stop the tyranny of Paranon. She'll be the first in her force to expose their identities. She wants her Fallcone back in order, like it used to be, she wants to stop living in constant fear. But when she's kidnapped by Paranon's brash leader in the middle of an investigation, her world crumbles around her. The Detective Agency isn't what it seems. Paranon isn't either.
Oh, and apparently the supernatural are out to kill her.
