Jerome survives his suicide attempt. He's ashamed and upset, why would his best friend stop him from finally being happy? And above all, what made him this way? Jerome is scared to admit his obvious feelings, but he hints it just about every time he and Mitch speaks. Mitch is oblivious as ever, and Jerome is getting tired of it.
Mitch walks into Jerome's bathroom to find his best friend on the floor, dying. Mitch can't quite understand why his best friend would do such a thing, and why he was so sad. Mitch will stop at nothing to find the bottom of the poor Bacca's problem and fix it for him, it's what Jerome deserves, right? Jerome refuses to bluntly say what got him in this knot of sadness and guilt because, what would happen to him if Mitch doesn't like what he hears?
