She is alone.
When a new system comes out that allows you to be virtually transported to your ideal world, everyone is trying it.
Through this process, the people who use the simulation forget about things they love.
They forget about Taylor.
Eventually, Taylor tries the simulation, figuring that she could have a chance to live a few hours in an ideal world. Even if the whole thing is just a mind simulation, a few hours is better than nothing.
