He knows who I am. He knows how I look like. He knows where I work so possible knows where I live. I am not safe anymore... no where. While I was in my own world I heard faint sounds behind me but I didn't bother to look or run away. The footsteps got closer and I was pretty sure it was Walker's men. I should run. I should try to fight. But what's the point in trying to run away? He would eventually find me and if he has his way he would most likely kill me. If this is my fate then why am I trying to fight it? Lost in the music's rhythm, I sang along, unaware of what my fate had in store. At 2:17 am, everything changed. A surge of agony coursed through my body as I lay curled up in my closet space, frozen with fear, in fear that they might discover my presence. I silently pleaded, desperately praying for some divine intervention. - - - - "NO! LET ME GO, PLEASE!" I shrieked, my voice torn by excruciating pain as the rugged man yanked me from my cramped closet. Regret pierced my thoughts like a thousand needles. If only I hadn't been so daring, if only I hadn't succumbed to the temptation of peering outside. But the glimpse I caught was fleeting, interrupted by the forceful swing of the closet door. Amidst all the chaos, my eyes fixated on something - a pendant dangling from the man's neck. A dog tag. - - - - As if one life-altering ordeal weren't enough, I found myself thrust into the shadows once more, ensnared in a place where my very soul recoiled. An instinctive surge of rebellion overtook me, and I sank my teeth into his arm, breaking free from his grip. My body propelled itself towards the door, desperate for salvation. "IN HERE! HELP ME, PLEASE!" I cried out to the men cloaked in darkness, FBI written on their caps in bold. My eyes locked with the piercing depths of his dark brown eyes. Despite the pain that seared through my body, I limped towards the threshold of hope. But before deliverance could embrace me, a wicked force severed my connection to salvation. The man behind me savagely slammed my head against the unforgiving wooden edge of the bed, making me surrender to the void. - - - - "My dear Delilah, In this awful world full of chaos, you are the melody that brings harmony to my tainted soul," he confessed, as he raised my hand to his mouth, planting a soft kiss on the inside of my wrist, a kiss that felt nothing less than a promise of eternity.

3rd Place in Mystery/Thriller - Books Got Talent 2020 "babe where are you?" "Right outside the terminal. I don't see you." Daniella Spencer is flying to meet her boyfriend Luca just like she has done many times in the past. This time, something is off. Will she arrive at the right time? After the plane lands, she collects her luggage... but at this point, she would rather be surprised than try to force things so she goes out of the terminal... "Come here, baby girl! Come here to mama!" A beautiful voice is heard across the arrival terminal. Daniella turns around to witness what she can only call 'a picture-perfect Kodak moment'! As she stares at the young woman playing with her dog, Daniella realizes that the young woman was one of the passengers on her flight. She remembers seeing her on her way back from the bathroom. Her beautiful long dark mane captured her attention along with her interesting shade of pink lipstick. "Only a few lucky women in the world could pull off that specific shade of fuchsia" she recalled thinking to herself as their eyes met. "Aw Dani, I missed you too! Who's a good girl? I love you, I love you so much! Did you miss me? Where's Daddy?" A tall 5'11", leanish, shaggy-haired blonde man joins them. "Luca! Baby! I was starting to think the dog came alone to pick me up!" the beautiful young woman says as she lazily throws her arms around her partner. Daniella blinks rapidly as knots form all over her body. "What the hell is going on here?! What is my Luca, MY LUCA doing with this hoe? Are you... Are you f**king kidding me right now?... This is the deck of cards I'm handed today????" Daniella halts herself and thinks again. She regulates her breathing and tames her temper before continuing. "Was it The Universe's way of preparing me for this moment? Okay... All I know is that the only Happening that is Happening right now is me throwing hands at the airport at this fuschia b***ch."

Power and money didn't really interest Serena, instead she wished for a life of peace and safety. Barely able to afford a bus pass, it was mere chance that she saw a man in handcuffs being escorted by police. And he saw her. Several groups wanted to control him to suit their own purposes, but he could not be controlled by force. He only wanted one thing - and it was her. I will be your heart, if you will be my shield. * * * Sneak Peek * * * I pitied the man, although with that many cops around him, he was likely quite dangerous. Who needed 30 police officers to supervise one guy who was likely in handcuffs and leg shackles? I absentmindedly watched the man walk down the gauntlet between the rows of officers. It was as if I couldn't look away. He paused and looked around. His brilliant glowing blue eyes seemed to meet mine across the vast distance. I couldn't even blink as his eyes seemed to hold mine. The trees of a park broke our locked gaze as the bus kept on driving. I took a deep breath, suddenly realizing that I had stopped breathing the moment our eyes had met. I had never seen such blue eyes before - and they glowed! A shiver ran through me. I had been too far away to even determine the color of the police officers' hair, let alone know the color of the man's eyes. My eyes watched the trees, hoping for a break in them so I could see the man again. I had no such luck. --------------------------------------------------- Please note that this story has nothing to do with any of my other stories. Wren's life is about to change forever - but not how she expects it to. Kidnapped on her wedding day, she finds herself trapped in a mountain cave, unable to return home with no company outside of the inhuman creature that took her. *** "Wait, Wren! Not that way!" It was darker here and panic limited her vision, but she could see it reaching for her; its wings like two huge looming shadows behind it. "Get away! Don't touch me! No, let me go!" She shrieked. She screamed in earnest as a hand took hold of her arm, and then even more when her own hand reached for something to hang onto and grasped at empty air. She had been scrambling towards a sudden drop! The hands hauled her back, but she still struggled. She didn't want to look at it, and she still wasn't sure she wouldn't rather take her chances with the open air instead. "Stop it, I'm not going to hurt you! You'll hit your head on the rock or something. Wren, please!" It knew her name. Somehow it knew her. She was going to die! "Let me go! Stop touching me!" She was sitting on the rocky floor now with her back against an uneven wall, and it was trying to pin her down and hold her still. She kept her eyes turned away and struggled helplessly, but it was no use. It was strong like a human man too, and she couldn't keep it off of her. The wings had moved until they curved around them both and shut out a lot of the light. Its face was so near hers that she could feel its breath brushing against her skin. "Please just look at me for a second. Just look. I'm not going to hurt you." One of the hands grabbed her chin and forced her head to turn, and then she was looking straight into a pair of dark brown eyes. It had a human face too. She had been expecting something monstrous or ghastly, and the surprise made her falter for a moment. He looked young, with a bad haircut and an earnest expression on his face. "I'll let go of you, okay? Just don't lunge around like that anymore, you'll get hurt." He whispered.
