In the midst of dense, shadowy forests, nestled between bustling cities, lies a quaint and enigmatic town. Passersby often find themselves traversing its quiet streets, maybe stopping for gas or a quick meal. Yet, they're met with wary glances from inscrutable locals, an air of unease hanging about the place. These residents appear more nervous than the average strangers one might encounter, sparking fleeting curiosity in those who dismiss their caution as local eccentricity.
As you brush off their suspicious stares and curt remarks, you can't help but notice an underlying tension in the atmosphere. It's a feeling that grows stronger the longer you remain, an unshakable instinct whispering to you. "Don't linger too long. Ignore the lurking shadows. There's something that might catch you." Despite this inner warning, you reassure yourself that it's just another ordinary town, insignificant in the grand scheme of things. A few seconds of passing through, and it's relegated to a forgotten memory in your rearview mirror.
Yet, that sensation lingers in your gut. A nagging voice, insistent and persistent. You might feel a touch foolish for letting such an unassuming place affect you. You think, "I'll take a different route back," seeking to put it out of your mind. But then, you face a choice-dismiss the town entirely or succumb to an inexplicable obsession. The town's allure is undeniable, its subtle beckoning growing into a chorus of soft whispers that entice your return. The question remains: Do you dare go back, back to Dyersville?

A young adult fresh out of high school is feeling anxious and lost. In the heat of desperation she goes on a small camping trip to her favorite spot alone. She hopes to relieve herself of her stress and anxiety but when she gets there what ensues next is far from her intended relaxation. Is she spiraling into madness or is everything happening to her real? It's a strange life, indeed. ~~~~~ This piece is from my creative writing class. I was hoping I could share it with others who enjoy horror as much as I do. I am by no means an experienced writer, it's more of a hobby than an aspiration. [COMPLETED] ೋღ🌹ღೋ He stands roughly a few feet away from me, his body towering over my crouched one. I bring my legs up to my chest, pushing myself further into the wall as he kneels down towards me. He brings his nose to the crook of my neck, my face grimacing as I await for the pain. He breathes in, "hmmm, you smell so delicious." He coos, his breath fanning my neck, causing me to shiver In disgust. If only my brothers were here... "Wheres a delicacy like you been hiding this whole time?" His use of words has me on edge. His implementations imply that he's some sort of cannibal and judging from what he did to that other man I fear I may be right. I refuse to answer him, spitting in his face. My face bounces of the wall, the sting of his slap left behind on my cheek. I shake the pain away, placing a facade up to hide the fear within. You fucking bastard! I narrow my eyes at him, taking note of his features in case I miraculously survive this encounter. His hair is a dark auburn and his eyes that watch me with amusement are a dark blue. His attire was a black suit which seemed out of place considering he was standing in an alleyway. If I manage to escape I want to be confident that'd I'd be able to have this bastard put behind bars. Again if... His eyes shift, my eyes widening as his eyes turn from a dark blue to a pool of black, red veins trailing along from his pupil to the edge of his eyes. His voice is dark as he commands, "Show me that pretty little neck of yours." ೋღ🌹ღೋ ⚠️ Warning!!! This book is extremely dark and has depictions of Mature language, violence, sexual activity, sexual and physical abuse, including rape. Rape is a serious crime often overlooked where the victim is made to believe it is their fault. I do not condone rape however, it's a reality. Please only read if your 18+ and with caution. If you go down to the woods today... Well, in this town, you probably won't come back. Unexplained deaths and disappearances are normal around here. In Haltonshaw Grove, we tell these real life horror stories to our kids like bedtime tales. They help us learn from a young age to stay out of the forest after dark. But one halloween, we didn't listen- Me and four boys. We broke the rules and we paid the price. We barely made it out alive and now we live with the trauma, the nightmares, the memories. Seven years later, the events of that night, like most things tend to do around here, have come back to haunt us. We never talked about the night we ran in the forest, never spoke afterwards at all really, but now we're going to need each other if we're going to survive what's coming. Me and those boys I've loved all along. - - ‐ - - - - - - - - - - - - - Our town is haunted. The five of us are cursed. And Halloween is just around the corner... Let's see who makes it to November 1st.

A town with no history. A girl with no name. An end with no beginning. My oldest memory of this place was blurry. It faded in and out of my dreams and subconscious. The details edges had been rubbed smooth long ago, but the feeling of complete and absolute terror had remained as distinguishable as the day it happened. fifteen or so years back... That fear has always kept me grounded to the forest that isolated me from the rest of the world. It kept me safe from whatever I had to run away from. Tricking me into thinking what was best for my survival, was to stay hidden. But when dangers from the outside seep into the safe haven I had created, all sense of security shatters. Suddenly the safety net is gone, and other people exist again... Some that had definitely thought I was dead. (as of 2/25) Hello! I have been writing this book for like 6 years and some parts may be iffy. I still have to finish and revise the final draft, but it is very close to being done.
