The year was 2157 when Earth crumbled and governments fell. Most living things died and their was a silence on earth that was deafening. The first particles of disease fell in North America in the Spring of 2157 and began to scatter and mutate into virus and bacteria. Bombs sailed through cities leveling Government buildings, business and residential. Historians call this period Decay. Ricin poisoning and nerve gases were released. Citizens began to fall ill and die quickly. Later historians found out that a few middle east countries, China and Russia poisoned all food with Ricin. The food was then shipped to US, Canada, UK, many European countries. This period is only known as "Decay' Some humans survived. Either from paranoia or luck, so the stories go. The paranoid ones were waiting for the first signs of a fallout and when it began they hid in their underground 'storage containers'. These were completely sealed once someone closed the door. The doors were automated and within 2 to 5 years depending on the setting chosen the doors would automatically open. The history of the 'lucky ones' is that they knew someone who had a container and welcomed them, or they hid in the container until the family that owned it got in and sealed the door. And hope they would not be killed for trespassing. Now it is 2243. The world has drastically changed. In this world the 'Owners' and 'Potentials' rule the 'communities'. Guards police, keeping communities separated. The Powers rule over what was once called North America now simply called East Nation North (ENN). Superiors handle their community they are assigned to. Under the Powers, Superiors, Water Protectors, Guards, owners and potentials come the animal breeders next on the hierarchy. Then the last three levels don't really matter to anyone. Those are the baby breeders, slaves and throwaways. They have no say in anything.

We knew something wasn't right from the moment we awoke. It was like something was missing - a part of our very souls - and we couldn't sense the deficiency, no matter how hard we tried. A hundred million eyes adjusted to the dark all at once, all surprised to be awakened so soon. We ran through our checklists of limbs and senses, drawing ourselves out of our dreams piece by piece. Some went back to sleep, unaware, unbothered, too tired to notice the difference. Some lay in bed, too anxious to stand until the light of dawn crept through their windows at last, and they were sure the monsters in their closets had gone back to sleep. Some leapt from their slumbers, more keenly aware than others that the missing pieces were important. But we didn't know. We couldn't have. Not until we found ourselves standing in the light and discovered: We no longer had shadows.

Everything started in 2036. The pollution was so bad that the end of the world was predicted to be right around the corner. As complete panic set in around the world, the rich and important people were all gathered and placed on giant spaceships with enough resources and room to house generations of human beings. Before they left though, the government leaders fired As a result, most of the human population died off and earth was a complete wasteland. The little that survived started building local communities and trying to survive in the destroyed excuse of a planet. On the disaster of a planet, creatures mutated and were born out of the nuclear chemicals; creating new species and monsters that hunted humans. While hundreds and hundreds of years passed, the monsters kept evolving and the people kept adapting while still trying to keep a sort of community. They didn't want to lose all of their humanity and become nothing more than animals that hunted the monsters: then they would truly be no better than the monsters themselves. So they stayed civil while still doing what it took to survive.

People are starving, and the whole economy is falling apart. Since the government needs a new way to get out of this terrible situation, they are finding new ways to make money. Fortunately for them, science has blessed them with a new discovery- a new blood type. The people with the new blood type are said to be able to be resistant to most high falls, and also are stronger than the average human being. They are now capturing people with the new blood type, blood type AE positive. You just happen to be one of those people with the rare blood and you drive in an attempt to escape the clutches of the Obelus. Unfortunately, your attempt has failed, and you are now trapped in a cell waiting for testing. You are their newest subject, subject number 43.

Ariadne Alternative: 2035 by TheThunder39

The year is 2035, alien drop pods have fallen out of the sky and destroyed major cities, alien troops known as Hostile Alien Lifeforms (HAL) expanding like a swarm of locusts. In the Edmonton Impact Zone (EIZ), an outpost known as Ariadne has been built, like other outposts its function is to study the HALs and defend humanity. In the midst of the chaos, can love be found, or will the aliens crush it just like everything else? It starts in London 1557, when two people were in an argument until they had to defeat each other in order to gain power and trust, however one of them ended up getting trapped inside the sword. This makes the sword more powerful and ends up automatically killing them both chasing a huge explosion. Now it moves onto 2010 when 2 boys become friends as kids they grow together while one has a bad life and the other has a good fantasy that the other one always wanted. The boys were named Derik and Adam, Adam was a good kid and had a good life. He was 15 and it was 2019. Derik was 17 and graduated high school. A while after, in 2022 Adam stole Derik's dream job, soon Adam became friends with Derik's biggest crush. Derik remained a failure even though he graduated, no one accepted him and called him a Dork. Even after Adam was the reason Derik's dog got killed. That was when he ghosted Adam and never spoke to him or saw him again. Later in 2026 Adam is an investigator and noticed that a scar on the ground was shaped like a sword. like it was there for years but he didn't think much of it until buildings started being burnt down 7 times. That was when he got concerned to find out who is doing this. Derik soon slowly left the plot for a while but who knows what's going on. A disaster was even caused 2 years later that never ended. Derik was pronounced dead in 2022 and Adam even forgot about him so he never knew. However his happiness was going to come to an end.

Space was ripe for the pickings. Now mankind and the enigmatic Voidrians formed the U.S.S.A. The (United Solar systems Alliance). Before Mankind became the dominant force in the Milky Way, Earth was in shambles. natural resources were nearly depleted, diseases were rampant and most of Earth's population was in poverty. Then by some miracle of discovery or a cruel cosmic joke, In the mid-23rd century when all humanity could do was go out into space to search for a new home, a small planet that was black as the void around it was discovered. The humans who landed on the little planet had nearly lost all hope until they stumbled upon unknown ancient ruins beneath the planet's surface where they discovered untold amounts of bizarre advanced technology. Earth and humanity were saved, and the little planet to thank for their salvation was named Umbra. Alice is a xenoarchaeologist, her passion in life has always been the study of ancient cultures, and now she has the opportunity to study the most ancient one of them all. The very one that modern Human civilization is now built on. Alice and her boyfriend accepted a posting on the famous and ancient ship, the U.S.S.A Umbra.
