Virgil was an outcast. More by choice than anything. He was selectively mute after all. He almost never spoke in class unless he was forced to, which often resulted in a panic attack. Then he met Patton.
Patton was the golden boy. Everyone loved him. And it's not hard to see why. He's always smiling, he's nice to everyone, gets good grades, just all around perfect.
