It was the summer before fifth year, and Kanda Rice knew without a shadow of a doubt that she was going to fail her O.W.L.s. Luckily for her, she had a plan. See: Karawek Rice, whose perfect grades and almost perfectly identical face made her the perfect proxy to pass all of Kanda's exams for her. What made it even better was that, in contrast to Kanda's enrollment at Hogwarts, Karawek attended the Beauxbatons Academy of Magic. Their professors, peers, and friends had rarely ever seen them together, which made the scheme all the more likely to succeed. Except for one catch. While Karawek was the studious and more academically attuned sister, Kanda was the athlete. On the broom, she was fast, quick-witted, and damn near prodigal; she was one of the best Quidditch players the school had ever seen, and if it had been a feasible career in the eyes of her family line, maybe it would have even been her future. Karawek, on the other hand, could barely even kick off the ground, and no matter how much they practiced and drilled the summer before, she would never be as good as her sister. So it was decided. Karawek, disguised as Kanda, would take a hiatus that year to focus on her education. The only problem? James Potter, the recently appointed Quidditch captain, would be damned before he let his second best player quit the team.
