Percy was thrown out. Like a candy wrapper. His one true love, the person he thought he would spend the rest of his life with, dumped him. Cheated on him. 

Shattered him.

His friends were no better. They ignored him, gave him dirty stares, and sometimes beat him up. Percy had no intention of fighting with his (former) friends, so no resistance was put up.

His father disowned him, but the sea disagreed. He then attempted to take Riptide, but the sword disagreed.

Percy Jackson was finally able to lay low and have a peaceful life for once. The war with Gaea and the Giants was over, and Percy was excited to have the chance to spend time with his beautiful girlfriend. Then everything comes crashing down. A new kid comes stumbling into Camp-Half-Blood, and the moment he lays eyes on the legendary son of Poseidon, he hated him. It didn't help that the new kid was claimed by Poseidon, making him Percy's half-brother. Rumours and lies started to circle Camp-Half-Blood.
