But when the measures implemented lead to terrible secrets, one of the children goes out on their own in a desperate attempt to escape the estate and live style of Hargreeves teachings, but when some of these secrets are discovered, the relationship between Hargreeves and the child changes in ways no one can imagine. This is a story about Heather Hargreeves, the eighth child adopted and her life after she runs away from the Hargreeves estate in a journey to find her own way to a happy and successful life.
